Our approach.
Here at Tū Tika, we know what we’re good at. A small, dedicated and highly versatile team, we are nimble and relationship focused. How we work reflects our own tikanga; our principles and values. These are drawn not only from sound professional process and industry best practice, but very intentionally woven with our personal values and guiding principles.

Systems and Processes
Tū Tika maintain professional systems and processes for all aspects of our business. From a project perspective, our high-level approach involves:
Understanding nature and scope of project – identifying and liaising with client and relevant stakeholders, ascertaining project viability, and formulating high-level approach.
Undertaking relevant design phases – these vary depending on project complexity, but may include aspects such as high-level structural concept, key structural systems and materials planning, defining loadings and other elements, and detailed design.
Supporting the consent process – providing all necessary drawings and as required for the consent process and supporting the wider process as necessary.
Monitoring structural construction – liaising with contractors and other parties as required to resolve potential issues, and providing final PS4 documentation.
People and Relationships
Our clients tell us they appreciate how easy we are to work with, and how engaged and responsive we are to their needs. We put this down to being real people who prioritise connecting and engaging with other real people by:
Striving for close and genuine working relationships
Listening for the purpose of understanding
Truly valuing a collaborative approach that combines different disciplines – as Aristotle put it, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts
Being unafraid to dig in, get our hands dirty and tackle the hard stuff
Openly talking through and acting on any issues or potential issues as they arise.
Professional excellence
In addition to following sound professional processes and industry best practice, we are always mindful of delivering:
Delivering simple, solution-focused outcomes
Cost-effective solutions
Being inquiring, curious, and testing out different solutions at a conceptual level
Being aware of the wider context, intricacies and environment of a project

“I have worked in with Tū Tika for several years on a wide range of projects from structural elements for buildings to engineered designs for supporting plant and equipment. The Tu Tika team great to work with, from consultation right through to final completion.
I have found Jaden and his team to be very professional and knowledgeable. Their designs are practical in real world applications, ensuring a quality product in a cost-effective manner is achieved.”
