Expertise.
No two construction projects are identical, therefore having a wealth of knowledge, experience and resourcefulness walking alongside you is integral. At Tū Tika we are accustomed to navigating the unique challenges, constraints and advantages that different types of projects present and delivering simple, solution-focused outcomes.

Industrial
The range of activities being carried out on New Zealand industrial sites is extremely broad. A site’s specific use can have a major impact on engineering design requirements – from foundations and building construction to flooring, plant, temperature control, utility services, racking, finishes, etc. Let us help ensure the success of your project by leveraging our extensive experience in this space.
Commercial
Commercial buildings require not only safety and structural integrity, but also flexible and efficient space utilisation for maximised productivity and performance. Design and construction must be fit for purpose for tenant requirements, while also being cost-efficient. Tū Tika works collaboratively alongside the architectural design process to create adaptable spaces that work well from a practical perspective but can also evolve as business needs change.
Civil
Civil projects can often represent a complicated process with numerous stakeholders involved in funding and final sign-off phases. There are also challenges of the surrounding natural environment to consider – such as waterways, coastal elements, terrain, weather patterns, etc. Tū Tika are highly experienced in the civil engineering design of retaining walls, bridges, industrial pavements, hardstands, as well as raft and piled foundations for complex or liquefaction prone sites.
Residential
From an individual residential dwelling requiring specialised structural elements to developing group homes where economic yield is a key factor, Tū Tika has the necessary experience and skillset to assist in all aspects of residential structural design and construction monitoring.
Māori / iwi
These types of projects are wonderful to be involved with. However, because numerous stakeholders may be involved organised through a flat decision-making structure, this can add a level of complexity to design and sign-off phases. Tū Tika are experienced with this type of work and have a good understanding of the tikanga and cultural protocols that may be involved.
Education
Ministry of Education guidelines and processes can seem daunting and filled with complexity. In addition, there can often be various assets at a single location to be considered and multiple parties involved in the design and sign-off phases. Tū Tika are experienced in supporting clients through these intricacies, having a good understanding of the process and its successful navigation.
Aged Care
Retirement village and residential care asset owners will typically have their own strict set of design specifications that need to be met over and above standard building code requirements. These are typically in place in for the purpose of keeping uniformity between the provider’s different sites. Tū Tika are experienced in ensuring the architectural vision is bought to life while still being in alignment with all relevant requirements and standards.

“The experience of working with Tū Tika has been good. They engage well, listen and are responsive. They also get on well with the wider project team. Finding engineers that can do this is always a good thing.”
The projects we have worked on together are not always ‘clean’ projects. Alteration projects particularly can tend to be messy, but Tū Tika have always been keen to engage in these more complex projects, which we’ve appreciated.
We have worked with Jaden and his team on a range of projects, from residential through to commercial. We work together in a collaborative process, combining both architecture and engineering outcomes and parameters. The Tū Tika team are easy to work and get on with. Jaden is always very open to catching up and talking through any issues or potential issues with regard to a project in a friendly and professional way.
The Tu Tika team are inquiring. They are interested in the reasoning behind why something is to be done in a certain way and whether there could potentially be a better way to approach it. Testing different approaches can be good.”
